I had 95,000 miles on my timing belt, and its a huge process to get my car to pass a smog test. I knew the pin was bad due to the fact that you could not set the timing, you would see two timing marks due to the slack in the gear. This led to a visual inspection which revealed the worn pin and CAS. I had to have my CAS as far advanced as it would go just to make it run marginally well. I have to get a smog test this moth so I figured now was the time change the belt to fix this problem. I did this job in my driveway with temps ranging from 10-40F. I would not ever recommend this approach! Every time UPS man showed up with more parts, he said "you are F***** insane" lol. Took the time to add a new radiator and bushings, IAACV, replaced the gaskets on the timing covers etc alot of things like that. I thought about Bernie's upgraded injectors, but I decided it was too much change at one time. I decided to check my existing injectors before setting the intake and of course two were dead..open circuit. I replaced those two and put it all back together. When the moment of truth came there was more than a little apprehension, but the baby cried, came to life flawlessly timed out perfectly 15 degrees, one timing mark lol, with the CAS dead center of adjustment. Now to see if it will pass a smog test! Fingers crossed.
